For more than three decades, L & T Towing has remained a proud family-owned and operated business serving Northern California with dependable towing, recovery, and roadside support. What began as a single-truck operation in 1987 has grown into a multi-generation company built on hard work, trust, and a commitment to helping drivers and communities when they need it most.

L & T Towing was founded by Windford D. Lamb, known to many as “Uncle Wimp”, and his nephew, Michael R. Thornton, after years of running Willows Auto Wrecking, a used parts business the family launched in 1975. With just one tow truck and a determination to provide honest, reliable service, the pair built a reputation that quickly earned the attention of local agencies and customers alike. By 1990, their dedication led to securing the AAA Auto Club contract, a milestone that helped accelerate the company’s growth and establish it as a trusted name throughout the region. When Uncle Wimp retired in 1995, Mike continued leading the business until 2009, keeping the family legacy strong.

In January 2009, Mike’s son, Zack, stepped in to oversee daily operations, bringing new energy while honoring the values the company was built on. By 2013, Zack officially purchased the business, marking the start of L & T Towing’s second generation of family leadership. Today, the company continues to grow with a modern fleet, expanded capabilities, and a dedication to 24/7 emergency service for insurance partners, the California Highway Patrol, and the drivers who rely on them. With deep community roots and a focus on carrying the family tradition forward, L & T Towing remains stronger than ever.

L & T Towing is proud to give back to the community that has supported our family for generations. We actively contribute to local events and groups including the Willows Car & Bike Show, Willows Youth Football, and the Willows Lamb Derby, helping strengthen the traditions that make our town unique. We also support important causes such as the CHP 11-99 Foundation, Relay For Life Glenn County, and the Glenn County K-9 Association, along with maintaining membership in the California Tow Truck Association (CTTA). Our commitment to community involvement is a core part of who we are—both on and off the road.
